Think of it this way-many people believe they dont have to change their oil every six months because they are doing low mileage . Low mileage usualy means short runs (to the shops and back) Short runs have a very bad effect on engine oil and in turn engine wear ,this occurs because the engine rarely reaches the correct operating temperature, this prevents moisure burn off in the engine block also the engine runs more frequently on choke thus more unburnt fuel reaches the sump-this contaminates the engine oil and acelerates oil break down - my point being low mileage cars are at higher risk of engine failure and excessive engine wear -these cars must be serviced every six months !
